How Botox® Works?

Apart from ageing, Facial wrinkles appear from the repetitive movement of facial muscles, resulting in dynamic wrinkles, such as crow’s feet and vertical frown lines between the eyebrows. As the skin ages, it starts loosing its essential components like collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid which leads to the volume loss, dehydration and sagging skin. Hence the dynamic wrinkles which would previously disappear when the skin was younger and more firm, persist even when the muscles are at rest, transitioning into static wrinkles and deep lines that are visible.

Botox® is made of botulinum toxin type A, which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It targets nerves responsible for muscle movement, freezing them and preventing the signals that trigger muscle movements. This results in relaxed overactive muscles and prevents the formation of dynamic wrinkles and fine lines, leaving the skin smoother, lifted and more youthful after treatment.
